Lauris - Provence - France
Mon Tournesol is located on the edge of the town of Lauris in the "Parc Naturel du Lubéron,” with the Lubéron hills surrounding the villa. It is in the heart of the food and wine region of Provence.
Lauris is a town rich in history, with its chateau and terraces dating back to the 18th century. Aside from its beautiful scenery, it has excellent shopping – a grocery store, butcher shop, pharmacy, and a local market on Mondays. There is also a large supermarket on the outskirts of the village.
The area has many high-end dining options, restaurants, café’s and bars. Local markets take place in different villages every day and are fun to visit as a day trip activity.
Lauris is a good central point in the region. It’s close to the storied town of Lourmarin, and within in easy reach of Aix en Provence (35 km), Avignon (52km), Cavaillon 27(km), Apt (23km), Pont du Gard (79km), Arles (90km), Vaison la Romaine (78km), and the beautiful coastal village of Cassis (84km).
There are cycling and walking trails close to the villa, and bike rental is available locally as are swimming and tennis facilities. The local riding stable is just over 1km away and the most beautiful golf course in Provence is a 15 minute car drive from Mon Tournesol.
The local tourist office in Lauris is very helpful, providing info about local events, and other destinations to visit in the region.
